Sounds like some issue with that particular TTS. I am in the process of moving
so I will not be doing any app work for the next couple months. I will leave
this issue active until i can look into it more.

I just got Jelly Bean on my Xoom and now it constantly says I need to install
TTS. Are you using Jelly Bean? I also heard this happened on another jelly
bean device so I am thinking I have some compatibility issue with Jelly Bean.
Please confirm your OS.
Also, please let me know if the TTS works or not when you get a test. My Xoom
does not support SMS so I can't test it.

Hi Jim. I'm running ics on a HTC one x. Yes the tts does work under test. I
hope that helps?

Just to follow on and clarify. The alternative tts voice can be chosen and
heard when I'm in settings but if a text arrives then it is silent not even the
default Google voice.

I did get my Xoom to keep asking for TTS data install but it all works good in
the emulator and I can't test TTS in the WiFi Xoom. The TTS enabled in Android
seems buggy, or I just have not figured out the issues here. It is
intermittent and often hard to duplicate. Maybe it is like music where it
takes a while to rescan for new music or something. Still working on this
please be patient.

Jim.
I'm happy to wait and test for as long as is required.

That did not really help.
I did find a "fix" though. There appears to be bugs in the default Google
text-to-voice engine that is causing this. Install Ivona TTS engine:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ivona.tts
and you language and it all works fine. Please test and report. This Ivona
app and the languages are free while in Beta so get it soon. After you set it
up, open the preferences in A2DP Volume and then close them again. This will
run the TTS check again and pop up a dialog to select your TTS engine. Now
select Ivona and click the "always" button. Ivona does have much nicer
sounding voices.
Hopefully there will be a better fix for the Google TTS engine soon.

The default TTS engine in Jelly Bean now works, even though A2DP Volume will
keep reporting missing data. Tested it on my Xoom. The voice is a huge
improvement over the older default TTS engines too. While I am still looking
into this, Jelly bean users can just ignore the message saying data is missing
and all will work fine.

I made a fix for this in 2.9.6. The dialog now includes and button to ignore
this warning so it will stop pestering you. The TTS works fine.
