Fixed some mixed tab/whitespace issues in some functions, and also made the "couldn't find board" error message more informative and direct

Also why ask people if they installed the v3 or v4 software when you can put the version directly in the output to save time?

@uugear I see you closed this but didn't leave a comment, does this mean I need to reopen this in a new PR? What was the issue that prevented merging? Is there a different system that these changes interfere with?
