I was having trouble with the flow of "what.tex", so I attempted a rewrite. I try to frame it around the two axes of existing events, and point out how having the pedagogy in a hacking space opens up unique opportunities. I think that better addresses the reviewer comment about how we differ from summer schools. Feel free to take or leave any of this.

Looks good to me. Changes in supplementary materials are just white-space, right?

There's a few small edits in there too. I wonder if turning on text wrapping in my code editor caused the other changes...
