500 error on discord linking

500 error on discord linking #304

Expected Behaviour

2XX response, no errors, correctly linking to discord account and add user to discord server

Actual Behaviour

5XX error(i believe its 500 but not certain) and shows page

Steps to Reproduce

no idea

someone(me) needs to go through the logs. I count at least 3 times that this has happened within the past 3 months. This is bad.

it could be related to #169 or #166, who knows
