Is there an existing style guide and contributing guide available for this repository? Those would be helpful in my development before submitting a PR. Danke!

good point, currently I would say it's the style currently used, just stay consistent. but i will put it on my todo list to provide one.

You could add jscs linter task to the project and an .editorconfig file
