Will Google lock out this capability? "gvsms.com" shut down. #23

"gvsms.com", which put an API on top of Google SMS, is no longer active.
Did Google shut them down?

We need to understand the allowed limits of Google Voice usage to use
pygooglevoice.

I see they released an API at http://code.google.com/p/gvsms/. What they then
did is
host a semi-commercial website which harness the Google Voice "APIs". The
semi-commercialism of the site for sure got them shut down by google being
somewhat
against their ToS. A discussion of this API and Google's ToS in general is
available
at http://serotoninstorm.com/2009/sep/16/hacking-away-at-voice/

In terms of use with pygooglevoice. As long as you are using the lib for
non-commercial, personal use then you are in the clear. What gvsms did was
provide a
public facing service that interacted with the Google Voice services. If you are
using pygooglevoice for your own personal use (even in combination w/ a PBX) you
should be ok.

The huge gray area of the Google Voice service is what you do with the actual
service
itself and the legality varies from application to application. If you are
wondering
whether google might have issue with your planned project, please contact me at
