Not completely impossible to use, but a good majority of functionality is
unavailable since it does not respond to the Control key.

Tab, ctrl, and various other keys don't work for me either.

Try tapping the screen - a ctrl and esc button appear. Tap ctrl then hit the
hardware or software key you're trying to use. Works fine on my Viewsonic G Tab

Yes you can tap the screen, however that is a horrible "solution." I would sure
like to see this fixed, most importantly fixing the control and tab keys.

As a fellow Xoom user with a Motorola Bluetooth keyboard user, I too find this
annoying at the least. I was hoping to be able to use emacs over ssh but that
is simply not practical on my Xoom. As you probably know, emacs uses control
keys very heavily. What can I do to help?

Same problems here with the Samsung Galaxy Tab's keyboard dock, too. I also
see the same exact problems with my Motorola Droid using a bluetooth keyboard.
Various keys like ESCAPE, CONTROL and so on are either missing or mangled
horribly.

Same problem, I use connectbot almost daily and fins that the CTRL and TAB key
on my new BT keyboard don't work, terrible disappointment.

+1 needing this resolved... I need a way to send Alt into my SSH sessions, and
the Motorola bluetooth keyboard supports F-keys directly -- please contact me
if you need testers for getting this hardware keyboard to work with ConnectBot
-- I for one would love an option for "treat keyboard like a standard 105-key
keyboard".

Same issues here, e.g. Return sends just a Space which is pretty annoying.

I also noticed that when the keyboard is connected to a Droid 3 the special
characters over the number row !@#$, etc will not work. It will simply use the
number instead 1234, etc. shift will still capitalize letters and use :"{}keys
when used with shift. Otherwise I have to hold alt and hit Q for the !
character.

Same problem on my Galaxy Nexus (4.0.2) with this keyboard,
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/tablet-accessories/for-android/devices/8232
This keyboard is nearly useless for me without ctl/alt/tab or even @ or $. I
bought it for connectbot with the hope of needing to carry a laptop less often,
and would be overjoyed to be able to use it less cumbersomely. It works
perfectly in the native ICS apps. Like commenter 10, I'm more than happy to
help with any testing to get this resolved.

Same problem on GT 10.1.
Does not have this problem in Android Terminal Emulator, all key combinations
seem to be working, using the same input methods I tried on ConnectBot.

I can also vouch for this happening.
Motorola Xoom running Android 4.0
Logitech Tablet Keyboard for Android 3.0+ (
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/keyboards/keyboard/devices/8232 )
On the Hacker's Keyboard soft keyboard, I can get Tab, Escape, and Control
behavior as expected. On my Bluetooth keyboard, Escape acts as "Back", Tab
seems to have no effect, and Control seems to block input (i.e. holding Control
prevents any key from hitting the transport).
I have installed KeyEvent Display and have verified that the Escape key sends
keyCode 111, Tab sends keyCode 61, and Control sends keycode 113 (meta 12288).
Tab
Thanks for your hard work guys! ConnectBot is a great app, and I'd love to help
it improve.

Same on Logitech BT keyboard, with Kindle Fire HD. This app is very nice and
would be #1 ssh client in app store if someone who knew what they were doing
could create a way for folks to map BT keyboards. So damn close.
