Almost every participant in DX/UX sessions would like to see a richer selector (spinners, parallel scrollers, etc)

Is this issue related to the mockups anticipated in https://github.com/vaadin/vaadin-date-picker/issues/245#issuecomment-379730462?

Yes we will take those documents as reference when implementing this. Though, as @jouni points in his comment, design and mocks are proposals right now, and might have many changes
