It's currently kind of hard to be able to tell whether or not a DHT makes sense for a distributed network. For example, does Waku really need to use a discovery protocol for nodes? Therefore it may make sense to write a paper that tries to quantify at which network size a DHT makes sense. How this would be done, I currently have no idea but I am sure it would be interesting and potentially useful research.
This issue should serve as a rough planning for this paper where we can collect ideas etc before starting a draft.
