There can be only one... magma monster with lighting at a time. Every other will render with fullbright textures, grunt or not, molten or not. Lighting will deactivate for one as it activates for another based on their relation to the camera. I couldn't see the logic behind which was chosen.

Minecraft 1.12.2 Forge 14.23.5.2807 Magma Monsters 0.3.0

The bug persists with no other mods or resource packs involved, though I still had a resource pack on when I took this screenshot.

The trouble seems to be this line. I can't explain why there's always one magma monster immune to that line, but commenting it out allowed all magma monsters to have lighting. Unfortunately, now they keep their lighting in their molten form.
