I currently use markdown and encrypt notes in an encfs folder hosted on dropbox, but the problem is that it is not very seamless, and on mobile devices its kind of a pain.

I still think building something on top of encfs might be a good idea if a seamless user experience can built.

Yes. I wanted something for the end user. I can setup encryption on my machine but I wanted normal users who use stuff like evernote to have a more secure experience.
