Project Title: A bio-medical device/system for acoustic diagnosis and monitoring of pulmonary diseases.
Project Description:
The Pnoi-phone project was initiated to design, develop, and launch an innovative biomedical system for the acoustic-based diagnosis and continuous monitoring of pulmonary diseases. This research project aims to provide an effective, real-time, and non-invasive solution that will significantly improve the diagnosis and management of pulmonary conditions, particularly asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Project Objectives:
The primary objectives of the Pnoi-phone project are as follows:
To develop a custom digital stethoscope optimized for capturing breath sounds from both the posterior chest and mouth.
To train a robust AI model capable of predicting pulmonary function test values for the early diagnosis and continuous monitoring of pulmonary diseases.
To design and develop a user-friendly mobile application (Pnoi-phone app) for controlling the device and visualizing test results.
Scope and Deliverables:
The project's scope includes the following key deliverables:
Custom digital stethoscope prototype.
Trained AI model for pulmonary function prediction.
Pnoi-phone mobile application.
Comprehensive documentation for device setup and usage.
Successful launch and marketing of the Pnoi-phone.

Description: Risk of ethical issues in establishing data collection protocols leading to delays and extra costs.
Mitigation: Early engagement with the ethical clearance department and compliance reviews.
Market Acceptance Risk:
Description: Risk of low market acceptance due to user preferences or competition.
Mitigation: Market research, user feedback, and product adaptation.
Assumptions:
Data Availability Assumption:
Description: Assumes ample diverse data for training the AI model.
Mitigation: Collaborate for data access, and use data augmentation.
User Engagement Assumption:
Description: Assumes user adoption of Pnoi-phone for respiratory health.
Mitigation: Marketing, user engagement, user-friendly features.
Funding Availability Assumption:
Description: Assumes continuous funding for project costs.
The project's quality standards will meet or exceed similar existing devices (AI Steth, Eko Digital Steth). Success will be defined as the completion of all project milestones within budget and on schedule, with high user satisfaction and regulatory approval.
