Git clone on Kali Linux. Will work just fine.
It will work on any Linux, but that's against all standards. See the following, for example : https://www.gnu.org/prep/standards/html_node/Releases.html
Just to clarify: all distros have their own mechanisms to track new releases automatically and it helps to maintain it. There are sites like https://repology.org which monitor software as well.
These mechanisms does not monitor comments in the commits. It doesn't work this way
Hi, I'm the package maintainer in Kali. It would be really great if you can make a tagged release: we have tools to monitor new versions through tags and we prefer to use tagged releases for the packaging. Thanks
