Gateway between VoIP/SIP protocol and EDGE/3G/UMTS network #839

Is it possible to create a bridge (or gateway) between SIP protocol and EDGE/3G 
network?
I'm wondering if the application can make communicate the incoming SIP call (on 
VoIP protocol) with the normal incoming/outcoming calls, performed by the 
application through the EDGE/3G channel.
I've not found anything in the open issues about this.
