What are DVR lines?

These are closed captioning lines. As the name suggests, it holds CC data. This is mostly in the original broadcast of the film unless they are specifically encoded onto the VHS tape.

These lines were used back in the 50s and 60s. Most notable is in the Gunsmoke TV show back in the early'60ss. If you view one of these on a CRT, the overscan will crop out the lines.

VHS does have those lines! They go by the name "Line 21". There are decoders for them. Their lines look like this.
