I'm having that problem right now. The Windows 11 Taskbar has come back, hiding my icons (though the recent Windows 11 releases now provide an overflow popup). Still, I'd much prefer to regain my two row taskbar where I can immediately see all my taskbar icons and all the the notification tray icons.
I'm not sure how much other stuff is failing. The taskbar was my primary reason for installing Explorer Patcher, so that's the part to which I've been paying attention.
I just get a dialog box saying that explorer patch has crashed three times.
I had to uninstall it.
Hi, sorry to hear that EP crash looped on 22621.2715. Are you using the latest EP release? Because it works on my laptop with 22621.2715 as they were.
I am using the latest release version, not one of the prerelease, although I tried them as well.Sent from my iPadOn Nov 17, 2023, at 16:03, Amr Satrio @.***> wrote: Hi, sorry to hear that EP crash looped on 22621.2715. Are you using any other tweak software other than EP? (Wallpaper Engine is considered one)
I just updated my daily driver PC to 22621.2715 and as I said everything works as they were. I am using TranslucentTB and OldNewExplorer on my daily driver PC.
I am using Start11, but that has not changed for a long time, and explorer patch has worked perfectly.Only change was new windows 11 22h2 build.Should I try 23H2? Will that make any difference?Sent from my iPadOn Nov 17, 2023, at 16:44, Amr Satrio @.***> wrote: Are you using any other tweak software other than EP? No, that will not make a difference. I'd suggest uninstalling Start11 and see if that fixes it. ExplorerPatcher has known compatibility issues with Start11 as mentioned here: https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher/issues/2385
Same problem for me with Windows 11 22h2 build 22621.2715
. Neither latest release nor pre-release work.
I'm updating more of my devices to 2715, in hopes of reproducing you all's issues. I just want to say that I can only fix EP not working on your PCs after having other tweak software uninstalled, if and only if I can see the issue in person.

Please don't use this issue as a blanket issue.
I tested EP 22621.2506.60.1 on the laptops that I have access to. It works on all of them. With the Dell XPS one being on 22631.2787 (Release Preview).
I hate to say this but, if you all are really not sure what's causing the crashes, please, please uninstall other tweak software. Whatever it can be. Rectify11, TranslucentTB, OldNewExplorer, Classic Shell, Open Shell, Start11, StartAllBack, Wallpaper Engine, , programs that modify your wallpaper, and such.
If that still doesn't work, I really hate to say this further, find a time to perform a clean install your PC while retaining files. I just cannot reproduce the problems on your PCs as much as I want to get EP working again for you all. It's only a waste of time if I am just asking you all for more diagnostic information if I still cannot see them myself with my own eyes.
That's all I can say for now. I'm leaving the resolution up to others.
I have four other computers running 23h2, Start 11, and Explorer Patch with no problems.
23H3 has not been released for the problem computer, but I can force it. That was why I asked about it.

If that is what you are getting please disable the Windows 11 context menu in the Explorer section.
If that's actually the case, I will be closing this issue as a duplicate of the one I've mentioned. And be more detailed when reporting issues in the future so you won't be wasting 5 hours of my time like this.
Where is that option to disable? I cannot find it ☹

Never had such software installed. EP doesn't even start but crashes right away.
so you won't be wasting 5 hours of my time like this.
I apprechiate your work but this isn't the tone I'd be expecting here. What kind of information would you require for debugging which we should provide?
I cannot think of something that is both useful and does not breach your privacy. Remote desktop-ing your PC is not one solution I think.
Sorry for the tone also. I've been getting tired from trying to diagnose these mysterious series of crashing issues. Guess I'll just wait until this happens on more PCs that I own, or even on my trusted friends' PCs...
When EP crashes, you can run this to open up the EP properties application:
C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe "C:\Program Files\ExplorerPatcher\ExplorerPatcher.amd64.dll",ZZGUI
Then go to advanced, and click on enable console.
Click on Restart file explorer in the bottom left corner and paste the results from the console window here.
And if you do not have internet access when installing EP, you need to enable internet access before installing EP as it requires it.
@pyrates999 Internet connection shouldn't be required anymore since I fixed the start menu being stuck in English. But yeah, please help me diagnosing the issue. I can only update more and more of my machines to 2715 and expect one to begin crashing.

Internet access is required for downloading symbols though. And I thought some dll's were being downloaded during the install of EP to enable access to the start menu in case symbols aren't downloaded yet.
I fixed that start menu requiring symbols issue as well.
@oznetmaster @dzoech Might have found the issue, but likely this isn't it. Try to go to Settings > System > Notifications, scroll down, then disable everything under Additional Settings. Then try updating to 2715 or installing EP.
Still doesn't work? Try DMing me on Discord and I will send you my private EP build that can capture a stack trace when it is about to crash.
Running Windows 22H2 22621.2715 with EP 22621.2428.59.1, and everything is fine for me. No tweak software or anything else installed. Windows update to 2715 was seamless.
intel chip
I did the C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe "C:\Program Files\ExplorerPatcher\ExplorerPatcher.amd64.dll",ZZGUI
and lots of stuff was written to the console, which was then wiped out when the dialog box came up after three tries at starting explorer patcher.
I can see no way to retain the information.
I upgraded to 23h2 (22631.2715) and nothing changed.
removing Start11 changed nothing :(
I have four other computers running windows 11 23h2 with Start11 V2 and they are all working perfectly.
I note, however, that this computer does not appear to be downloading the symbols for the 2715 build the same way the other installations do, unless it is being done as part of the installation and i do not get a notification?
Can you contact me on Discord? I'll try to sort this problem out for you.
No idea what Discord is :(
Okay then. Here's my personal build of EP: ep_setup.exe.txt
Make sure to delete the .txt from the filename. And also make sure that console is enabled prior to installing my EP build. Before crashing, it should give you sufficient info in the console to at least help me in pinpointing your issue.

Try again with Start11 uninstalled. I saw C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\Start11\Start10_64.dll in the stacktrace.
i got hundreds of "i am about to crash" popups on the screen as well.
I did try that previously, with no change in behavior. I reported that above :(
And I have 4 other computers running the exact same builds with Start 11 V 2 on them with no issues :(

How so? If you have uninstalled it, then Start11 shouldn't be in Program FIles anymore.
I resinstalled it after removing it had no affect on behavior.
For my future reference, it crashed here. Start11 calls that function which is intercepted by ExplorerPatcher.
i will uninstall start 11 and run your version again. it will take a bit of time since i have something else running on the machine.
The temporary solution would be setting EP Properties > System Tray > Language switcher to Windows 10. This is definitely Start11 conflicting with ExplorerPatcher.
Then why do my other 4 computers running exactly the same versions/builds of windows 11, ep and start 11 v2 have no problems?
Check that setting on those other 4 computers.
All set to Windows 11
Try changing it to Windows 10 on the problematic PC. I want to know if it works.
I wasnt't the one who wrote the code for changing the language switcher style on EP. So I could not explain you deeply about it at the moment. But that piece of code definitely conflicted with Start11.
i just noted that two of the other machines are running Start 11 v1, and the other two V2.
Probably not useful information however :(
My system updated to windows 11 22h2 build 22621.2715.
Explorer patch fails. None of the release or pre-release versions appear to support this build of windows 11?
