Doesn't show up on taskbar, and cannot be enabled/disabled in main ExplorerPatcher window app.

Please post windows version and build. You can find this by running winver. Please post explorer patcher version.

Please include what settings you changed in explorer patcher properties application. These should be screen shots.

Please include any other software you have installed that modifies the UI of windows.

Actual Multiple Windows (monitor switcher and taskbar extender)
Free Launch Bar (taskbar menu)
Open Shell (start menu & Windows explorer toolbar)

Please note, ExplorerPatcher worked well until recently. The only system changes were Widnwos updates.

Can you try disabling the windows explorer toolbar in open shell? And then restart file explorer.

And what version of open shell do you have installed?

I seem to be having this issue on my Windows 10 system at home as well, but not on my windows 11 system. Weather and start menu bug hit me at the same time. I'm at work now so I can't share every necessary detail from that computer until later tonight, but off the top of my head my windows build is now 19045.3996.

I did manage to solve the start menu issue early this morning by removing wincorlib.dll from the startmenuexperiencehost folder in SystemApps by using procmon to try to help identify where an issue might be.

What I can say regarding the weather widget, is that when I tried to clear the weather data from the gui, it fails. I checked under appdata\roaming\explorerpatcher, there was no subfolder for ep_weather_host, and it doesn't get recreated. Copying this folder from my other system allows the gui to clear the data since it exists now, but it never continues to recreate the folder, as it does on my windows 11 computer, where it's currently working.

I hope this helps to find where the issue lies, the weather widget is probably my favourite part of this whole project! cheers :D

More info about the windows 10 system: Using OldNewExplorer local account (not signed into anything either) micaforeveryone (to make weather widget completely opaque blue) msstyles taken from 22000.1 (not uxtheme patched since its signed I guess)

That didn't make any difference. But then I changed the registry settings for People to zero, and that disabled the Weather options list and won't allow me to re-enable it. [image: image.png]

So I did a little more "research" last night, and I found that I didn't have a "show people on taskbar" option in the taskbar context menu, or anywhere in settings > taskbar settings. I exported my settings through the gui, uninstalled EP, made sure the HKEY was for sure removed in regedit, and then reinstalled version 22622.3007.63.2. Allowed it to download symbols and then restarted explorer.

Without changing any settings, the show people option had returned(does nothing). Haven't had time to get too much further, but I captured the console log, for reference. Don't see any errors, but:

I ran out of time yesterday to compile a list of screenshots, but definitely coming later tonight. I do agree its a bit tedious to read reg files.

Not sure if this will be useful to know, but I also checked my peopleband.dll in system32, which is version 10.0.19041.3636 happy to send more info and test anything on my end.

PS: windows 11 insider builds have a mach code called deprecate people on taskbar which is 47471671. Maybe related? I don't have the standalone people app and can't launch it from the mail app, but I can on my windows 11 system. Just trying to think of anything else that could be somewhat related...

Done, but makes no difference.

Also updated to latest version of ExplorerPatch, although it keeps looping on icon update and asking to restart the app.

In the app, I cannot 'enable' the weather widget. Clicking on the x does nothing. Uninstall EP and download the latest release from here: https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher/releases/tag/22621.3007.63.2_fb28688

Then install it.
