failure during Opera SunSpider #72

On the Core i5's second run of the second Official Run, a failure occurred during Opera SunSpider.

Opera does not appear to be installed.

I will copy the debug file to Z as soon as I see what bug number this issue gets.

The Opera install failed on rerun. A momentary error message appeared but was apparently dismissed and the Opera link disappeared from the desktop. The benchmark is continuing to run.

van-smith commented 13 years ago

The Opera installation failure has now occurred on the Brazos SUT.

ghost commented 13 years ago

The debug info shows that opera was installed successfully, recording scores and times for all operations within. Will investigate.

ghost commented 13 years ago

Am unable to reproduce any failure in repeated installs / uninstalls. Am open to suggestions.

van-smith commented 13 years ago

OPBM does not trap the Opera installation failure. It will simply fail later in Opera SunSpider when it can't launch Opera.

However, I have seen the installation failure occur on both the Core i5 and Brazos SUTs, as reported above, and OPBM continued to run in both instances.

As with the Chrome install/uninstall failure, once this failure occurs, it will then occur every time, preventing further runs.

OPBM does not trap the Opera installation failure because the script is not reporting there was a failure.

The Opera install script needs to be altered to introduce a pause at the end so you can examine the screen and figure out what's causing the error. If you examine the manifest.xml file, you'll see that the opera install script reported a success, which is why it continued running. The problem occurs as something previously unknown to normal script operations.

"As with the Chrome install/uninstall failure, once this failure occurs, it will then occur every time, preventing further runs."

I have not found the ability to reproduce this error, or to understand why it's happening on those two SUTs.

van-smith commented 13 years ago

The failure occurred on the second run of the second Official Run of both systems.

The workaround is suitable for 9.19.2011 deliverable. Moving bug resolution date forward to 10.31.2011 deliverable date.

van-smith commented 12 years ago

I attempted to test the resolution for this bug, but it is currently untestable due to the new bug #124.

van-smith commented 12 years ago

This problem appears to have been caused by the Opera install/uninstall problems that have been fixed.

Closing.
