Hi Vanessa, Great work! Here's my review for homework 08:

Coding style: Clear and organized, easy to follow along, well commented!

Coding strategy: Simple and efficient, logical flow of code, complex code is broken down. Great job creating several reactive data frames and using if functions. I know if functions from Python, but it was neat to see how it's used in R.

Presentation - graphs: Graphs clearly represent data and nicely made, good job integrating various ggplot2 features.

Presentation - tables: I like the interactive table (I also used it in my assignment!)

Achievement, mastery, cleverness, creativity: Excellent application of tools and techniques learned from the course and beyond. Great job completing the chosen tasks and more thoroughly! I like that you incorporated your own research and various features in your app.

Ease of access for instructor, compliance with course conventions for submitted work: + Easy access, app runs!

Homework 8

WOW! You really incorporated a lot of features into your app which is awesome!

• Designed own app from scratch with new dataset
• Incorporated radio buttons, check boxes, and date fields to filter results
• Added image (map) of sampling locations
• Added plot and summary table to show results
• User is able to download results
• The number of results returned for each species is given

Great idea for an app especially since it might be useful to you later on! I get an error when there are 0 results returned and I think its just because its trying to return a table and plot. Adding error handling here could be an improvement for future endeavours. Overall though I really enjoyed it and well done!

• Your README provides a good description of your app, however it doesn’t describe the features implemented
• Neat idea for an app, it looks like it was implemented well! It is a very useful tool for looking at your dataset
• Since you have so many stations, listing that many checkboxes is impractical. I would suggest looking into selectizeInput which is similar to select input but also allows multiple selections and text input.
• It is unnecessary to include app.R because you have ui.R and server.R
• Your code looks pretty good. Lots of inline comments that explain each part
• You might want to include error messages for unexpected input as well (eg. a date input of june 20 to june 15).
• Nice work overall, your app functions well and I could not find any major bugs
