Android 11: playlists aren't written anymore to /storage/emulated/0/playlists #1091

Description

Hello,

my device received an update from Android10 to Android11. After the upgrade I noticed that new albums and playlists weren't ordered alphabetically, but instead were listed at the end of the album/interpret lists.

I reinstalled Vanilla, re-imported my formerly written playlists. Now new albums and playlists were sorted in alphabetical order.

But: new playlists aren't written anymore as .m3u files to /storage/emulated/0/playlists. Under Settings->Playlists everything is set to the correct values: "Playlist synchronization": "Write M3U, never import" "Synchronization folder": is set to "/storage/emulated/0/Playlists"

I'm afraid it's one of these Android11 storage "highlights" ... Nevertheless: is there a way that playlists are written again?

Thanks in advance" ....

Steps to reproduce the issue

OnePlus 6 user here. Recently I updated from Stock Android 10 to Stock Android 11 Open beta.

Vanilla music is unable to delete any music files anymore on Android 11. (It says 0 files deleted). It can read and play songs but cannot delete it. It does not affect other music players. I am using this AIMP player for now as a workaround https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aimp.player

The same here! Can we please have an update so that the app can have again write permission under Android 11! It certainly has to do with the fact that each new app under Android 11 may write only in their area and this area must be extra queried and confirmed at installation!

Please update!

I'm currently looking at fixing this on my scoped-playlist-observer branch.

Hoping to have a PR open for it soon.

Hey, y'all!

I experience the same problem on my Android 11 device. This is quite the bummer, as Vanilla Music seems to be the only decent music player (available at the f-droid store) that does support in/exporting playlists at all. I would be very happy to import my old, reliable "Favorites" playlist of >1k songs to my new phone, specifically to Vanilla Music. Can anyone think of a way around this (without rooting the device)?

Edit: The workaround mentioned in this comment did the trick for me
