I have that problem everytime (at least it seems to me) after I block/filter a lot of accounts/hashtags. The app needs a few seconds to react. It occurs to me then when I scroll through my timeline and/or swap between tabs.
I reset the app data and the app works normally till it starts to lag again after filtering/blocking.
