eagle cam file has version limit each.

which version of eagle can use the cfg files?

can you proide 8 layer cam job files ?

There is a 8 layer rules cfg in the dru directory. This is gread

I have been using this repository for a long time, throughout various versions of EAGLE

Currently it's working on 9.6.2, the last version (on Linux).

I might release the CAM file for 8-layer PCBs soon, when I have some free time. It is not hard to generate, you just have to add 2 files to the 6-layer job, with the corresponding extra layers.
