I am experiencing the same issue!
I'm also on Ubuntu 18.04.4 using Gnome and nvidia GEFORCE proprietary drivers.
CPU intel Core i7 8550U 8GB DDR4 display nVidia GEFORCE MX150 (4GB GDDR)
Can also confirm this:
Arch Linux KDE, 64 Bit, LTS Kernel, Python 3.8
happening for me too fedora 33 i7 7700k gefore driver and I think it's related to gnome somehow. I don't seem to have this kind of problems in VM with xfce
Same on Manjaro Xfce4 and Xubuntu 20.04 In addition on Manjaro the wallpaper flickers several times when is not time to change to wallpaper
Version of Variety:
0.8.0-dev1
Describe the bug
Note: It's not a bug per se. The act of switching from one wallpaper to another has a noticeable impact on the performance of my computer, I think it shouldn't be noticeable at all. The computer freezes for a brief period, like one maybe two seconds when the images are being swapped (not longer).
Context
It happens most of the time, that's the one reason I stopped using it last time. I don't know if it's gonna matter but my monitor resolution is 2560 x 1080 and the wallpapers have the same resolution.
To Reproduce
Attach Variety's log file
I don't think it's applicable here, I can update the issue with it if you guys need it.
