Same issue here, started right after I upgraded to Ubuntu 20.04.
Still having this issue with version 0.8.4 on Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS (Focal Fossa), with GNOME 3.36.3
This wasn't an issue for me in previous releases but in Ubuntu 24.04 and variety 0.8.12, it is. The Variety bar has stretched across the entire right half of the top bar.
Is the issue only when the icon style is "current wallpaper" ?
Doesn't matter what I pick, other than 'None', variety's bar covers the right half of my top bar.
Not sure if this is the same issue. I am running ubuntu 24.04 and the wallpaper selector bar does not obey the location setting and is reduced in size. The attached image is when the wallpaper selector position is set to bottom. The wallpaper selector appears near the top of the screen and is reduced in width. On Ubuntu 20.04 the wallpaper selector appears across all screens on the machine.

Additional context It doesn't seem to break when the icon type is set to anything except current wallpaper, but will stay broken even when changed (for example, the "number 4" icon will stretch)
