You need at least Varnish 4.1.2 although officially only the latest version is supported.

What is your version of Varnish ?

luisdavim commented 8 years ago

Hi, I'm using 4.1.1-1 from the Ubuntu repos.

Any way of getting the varnish modules on Ubuntu 16.04?

lkarsten commented 8 years ago

You can just download vmodtool.py from 4.1.3 if you want to continue to run on 4.1.1.

Most likely there will be xenial packages of 5.0 when that comes out in a couple of weeks.

lkarsten commented 8 years ago

Forgot to say; we (Varnish project) won't be building official Varnish packages of 4.1 for xenial.

Rebuilding the source deb, either from our repo or from debian testing, should work fine.

Unless I've forgot some detail, this breaks because the -w isn't available yet. That says where .rst files should be written. If you don't care about docs, you can just modify the Makefile.am entries to not use -w and get a working installation without much work.

Sorry not to support xenial on 4.1, but we have limited resources.

Closing this as there is no more actionable tasks left.
