For the last few months, development has been occurring in the background of a Dataset/Sector File generation application for our airspace. This application has been developed by Peter Story at VATPAC, with VATNZ filling the application's database with procedural data. A big improvement is the automatic import of updates on the ANR, greatly improving efficiency.
This application, whilst not only simplifying the production of our data releases, also adds a plethora of features.
Implementation of the following -
Main Dataset Directory
Airspace.xml - Addition of new SIDs, STARs, approaches, aerodromes, IFR way-points, VRPs and ATS Routes. This release also implements linked approaches - with RNP approaches being automatically linked to a RNP STAR.
RADARS.xml - Automatic generation of radar sites from a central database. The only changes are name changes.
Map Directory
NZZC.xml - Addition of uncontrolled aerodrome runways, and intersecting runways such as 11/29 at CH or 08/26 at WP. This also pulls from the database, allowing for changes to runway threshold generation too, which is neat.
Map/Airspace Dir
CTA.xml and CTR.xml - Addition of automatically generated airspace bounds from ANR data.
AIRPORTS.xml - Addition of multiple uncontrolled aerodromes and their labels. All ADs in the country (both certificated and non-certificated) are now included.
ALL_RNAV.xml - Addition of two map layers, showing the majority of RNP/GNSS approaches in the country.
FIR_BOUNDARIES.xml - Addition of a map layer containing NZ domestic and oceanic FIR boundaries.
ALL_NAVAIDS.xml - All ground-based navigation aids (VOR/DME, NDB).
ATS Routes.xml - Shows all ATS routes in the country, alongside their IFR fixes.
Maps/NZxx Directories
Addition of other aerodromes in New Zealand with any form of procedures (such as SIDs/STARs/approaches).
Each Aerodrome has the following map layers -
Each runway's STARs have their own Map layer.
Each runway's SIDs have their own Map layer.
Each runway has two approach-type maps - RNP and GNSS.
Nearby visual reporting points. Only VRPs within 50nm of the AD reference point are shown. This map layer also contains any VFR arrivals or departures, which is shown by a dotted line. The name of the departure is also shown.
All map layers, with the exception of VFR maps, have waypoint labels in a separate map layer.
While all ADs have had a significant amount of data added, the following ADs are new to the Maps directory -
