Recent weather which is often included at the end of ATIS messages is not extracted from the METAR.
It usually consists of the word "Recent" with an addition of the already existing weather types, so e.g. the METAR
RETSRA
could translate to
recent thunderstorm with rain
Suggestion: An option / acronym RE could be added to maybe weather descriptors with a spoken text of recent as default
