Notebook becomes very slow with a large number of tasks #324

Large number of tasks add a bunch of task status outputs to the notebook, which can cause Jupyter to become really slow. This problem has been discussed in a number of locations and long output was the first suspect.

We may want to simplify task output, or use a separate panel.
