Pause slide show from javascript #173

Is it possible to pause the slideshow from a javascript function (not from 
pauseLinkText)?

I am using galleriffic in a JQuery UI Tabs.
The gallery is the same for 3 tabs (it dynamically generates the thumbs for 
each tab). 
When in slideshow mode, if I click on "pause", than select another tab, and 
than click on "play" it works perfect.
But, When in slideshow, if select to change the Tab (without pause), is is a 
buig confusion.

I could solve this if I could stop the slideshow from the select tab event 
(using javascript).
But I don't know how to do it!
Any idea?
