We confirmed that CodingSpectator is supposed to upload at most once a day. And, we noticed that the last upload time gets flushed to the preference store only after the Eclipse is shut down. We couldn't reproduce the problem. And, we think excessive upload should happen only when Eclipse is not shut down normally.
I've noticed a couple of times that CodingSpectator asks for authentication information at least twice a day. I entered my authentication information when I launched my Eclipse today. Then, I restarted my Eclipse after a while. And, CodingSpectator prompted me for my password again.
Note that I'm using CodingSpectator v1.0.0.201011241830 and I restarted my Eclipse after invoking the buggy rename compilation unit refactoring. I don't think that this should have any effect on the number of times CodingSpectator tries to upload data though.
I remember encountering this problem on Stas' machine as well. But, I don't remember the exact sequence of events there. But, I think it's worth looking into this problem because as far as I remember CodingSpectator is supposed to upload data automatically only once a day.
