Hi Where is located the archive forum of http://www.win-lite.de/wbb/board208-specials/board59-user-area/board49-user-projekte/board153-portable-virtual-box/board152-portable-virtual-box-english-support/ because the link is dead.

You are right, look like the forum is gone. This is the problem on relying on a 3rd party. You never know when they may change their mind and delete your stuff.

Anyone know what has happened? I don’t read German, so I am having some difficulty finding any announcement about this.

Any suggestions on what to do? Make our own forum, or maybe send the users to Stack Overflow.? That appear to be quite popular by some projects these days (http://meta.stackexchange.com/questions/3966/is-it-okay-to-use-stack-overflow-as-the-support-forum-for-a-product-or-project ).

@Megachip any suggestions on what to do?

Hi,

I can read / understand german on native's level. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can find on win-lite.de about the mentioned topic(s). Even a search for the term "virtualbox" doesn't pop up anything nearly related.

So, I've opened a topic there, requesting a research what happened:

Great! Thank you.

Hi,

I've got a reply by a user on that forum. See his quote:

"Your link seemingly refers to the previous forum, which 'died' unceremoniously in spring this year. Backups were apparently not available. I also regret that.

The admin is currently making holiday for a few more days. Whether the mods have the necessary permissions to set new sections, I don't know."

Means in my opinion, when the admin of the new forum returned from holidays, maybe he'll take a look into it.

It looks like win-lite.de is not very interested to have a section for Portable-VirtualBox. The admin first offfered to start a new (empty) section but one of the mods answered that this made no sense as it was "unclear who was going to maintain Portable-VirtualBox at all". Somebody posted a link to threads arcived in the web-archive: https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.win-lite.de/wbb/*

"unclear who was going to maintain Portable-VirtualBox at all".

I think the part of support and maintaining of open source projects belongs to the community and not to a special person. But I think issue tracker on github will be enough.

@p060477 Your comments aren't productive. If something not work and nobody has the time to research and (if possible) fix it. Do it yourself and share your solution with the community. Or, if you do not want this way, pay someone to fix your problem.

@Zoli1972 @runarbu @vejobuj the board was gone without any backup. Like the author of portable virtual box :(. I think we should use github (issue tracker, wiki) for support.
