I am constantly having buffering problems...as well
Takes forever to buffer 10% just to get it to start playing anyone know how I
could fix this problem?

I recently found a workable solution to this problem - the constant rebuffering
caused by the cache limit, not the slow buffering. It requires the user to
change the cache size settings. Here's a post that provides the basic
instructions:
http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?s=69e81eca8ad90e81056dbf9cbbe2b60d&p
=74301298&postcount=212
However, rather than set the cache size to 30242880, instead I set it to 0,
which, I understand, is actually for unlimited caching.
Once I made I made this change, I'm able to run the buffer to 100% and then
watch a video without interruption.
What it doesn't address is slow buffering. What this means is that for some
videos you must wait for a while at the beginning for the buffer to reach 100%.
Sometimes, I've actually started the video before the buffer reached 100% -
maybe 60 or 70% - and still have been able to have the whole video play.
In terms of the slow buffering, I'm struck by the dramatic differences in
buffering time for different videos. For example, the daily show starts
without any buffering delay. Saturday Night Live, on the other hand, would
probably take 10-15 min to fully buffer on my 1.5 mbps dsl connection.
I assume that this is because of differences in the quality of the video.
However, I don't see a dramatic difference in video quality between slow and
fast buffering videos.
One thing that would be very useful would be to modify icefilms or xbmc so that
it starts the video after buffering just a sufficient amount to allow
uninterrupted viewing. It should be possible to calculate the amount of time
needed to buffer at the outset to allow the rest of the show to continue to
buffer while watching. So, maybe you only need to buffer 50% of the program
and the remaining 50% can be buffered while viewing so that there is no
interruption mid stream. I assume that this calculation should be easy to
make.
Just a suggestion for someone who knows something about coding.
