Disconnects/Reconnects to Ledger when trying to add address #117

Open Milodal opened 1 year ago

Milodal commented 1 year ago

Having issues using SYNC to import my VET address from my Ledger Nano X. I am able to unlock device and connect on desktop using the Ledger app. As soon as I click on LEDGER on the SYNC app, the app asks to go into the VeChain app from the device. Clicking on the VET app causes the usb device to disconnect and reconnect which causes a loop everytime I choose the VET app per SYNC. No way around this..

hi @Milodal , please make sure all applications and browser are fully closed when attempting to connect. This includes Ledger Live or any third party wallets (Metamask, Daedalus, MyEtherWallet) that could interfere with the connection between Sync and your Ledger device.

Please let me know if the issue still occurred .

Milodal commented 1 year ago

They are. This is an isolated computer with nothing except this app and Chrome browser.

hi @Milodal, I tired on MacOS / Windows OS with the ledger nano x (firmware v 2.0.0) and it works perfectly.

Please try to launch the VeChain app on your ledger device before attempting to connect with sync. if the issue still occurred please provide the following information

Describe the issue Provide a brief description of the issue

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to '...'

Actual result: Please add screenshots if needed

Expected result:

Desktop OS : Win10/MacOS 10.14.2/.....

Sync Version:

Additional context Any additional information, related issues, screenshots, transaction details that might be necessary to reproduce the issue

I already provided in detail all the steps taken in multiple ways and the consistent error/issues which loops through the process. Please read my description carefully as I have tried your suggestion multiple times.

This is a Windows 11 Pro machine running the latest patches and security updates.

The firmware version of Ledger is 2.0.2.

hi @Milodal , Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, unfortunately, we cannot reproduce the issue you mentioned on windows 11. dev team needs a little more time to investigate the issue.

below steps is the workaround solution:

The purpose of the workaround is to make sure VeChain app on your ledger device is ready before attempting to connect with sync.

  1. connect your ledger device
  2. navigate and launch the VeChain app on your ledger device.
  3. Proceed with any action (such as import/ sign a cert or tx ...etc)

Clicking on the VET app causes the usb device to disconnect and reconnect which causes a loop everytime I choose the VET app per SYNC. No way around this..

Let me make the issues clearly. You can add the address from Ledger Nano X successfully, but you don't like the Disconnects/Reconnects to Ledger. Is it right?

Milodal commented 1 year ago

Every time I try to connect Ledger with the VET app, the USB disconnects and reconnects so I am never able to create a VET account to transfer to. Please read my previous steps that I tried multiple times to contact this app. I do not have this issue with other app installed.

Sorry about that. The issues can not repeat on my devices, but i will follow it. Try the Sync2 first.

Milodal commented 1 year ago

I think I found the culprit. You have to wait until the device times out and asks for you to unlock with code. Once you do that, then the issue resurfaces. I was able to reboot the computer and configure the Sync wallet fresh with the 5 VET addresses that come with the device. Once I connect and transfer tokens, leave the device for a few minutes and try to reconnect back (the Ledger Live has to still be open as well as the VeSync app), the it tries to reconnect and it fails and keeps looping. You should be able to replicate this issue.

Also, I am not familiar with Sync2... What is that specifically and how would I have been able to use that instead per your suggestion above??

Milodal commented 1 year ago

In addition, I should be able to see the balance of the wallets from within the Ledger Live app. Why is this data not accessible or show in the main Ledger Live app???

AsbertMa commented 1 year ago

Thanks for the details, i can replicate the issue. (Fixing) Here is Sync2's user guide.
