Description

When Trying to join a server or any kind of networking really, server fails to join and throws an internal exception: io.netty.handler.codec.DecoderException error.

Steps to reproduce

load up the list of mods I'll have provided this is also a modpack of my own creation.

once loaded try to join any server

error will occur when trying to join the server

as far as minimal instance goes? does that mean with just the mod itself? or something else?

That error doesn't seem specific to FD, and the logs don't seem to show the decoder exception itself... not sure what could be happening here.

As for the minimal instance: it's an instance where only Farmer's Delight (and auxiliary mods, like JEI) are installed, to rule out mod interactions as a cause.

If you can, please share a client and a server log after attempting to login.

server log is gonna be hard to come by as Im using a generic test server address from the web to test my modpack versions for networking issues. however that being said. I would like to state that when I disable farmers delight, the issue disappears altogether and I can connect fine. the reason I say this is because I triple checked the issue to make sure before I submitted this bug report. but when I get the chance I will do a minimal instance check to see what happens

as far as server logs, still can't do anything about that since it was trying to connect to an already made test server

This issue occurred because they were trying to join a vanilla client with a modded instance, as was determined in this issue thread: https://github.com/The-Aether-Team/The-Aether/issues/1479.
