How necessary is it to configure webhooks? #260

A site I manage didn't want it to be possible for Mailchimp to update membership of the corresponding Civi group, so syncs were set up one way only and webhooks were never configured.

With recent versions of the extension there's now always a warning shown when going to the settings page that webhooks aren't configured, and the documentation says 'Ensure the tickbox is ticked that says "Ensure lists's webhook settings are correct".'

Is it safe to ignore this? Is there another reason this approach is not sensible?

Well, yes you can ignore it. But keep in mind that the things you'll be ignoring are "please, I don't want to be on this list"... which isn't great and likely to land you in hot water! Sounds like you might be trying to use Mailchimp as your composer/mailer for something non-subscrib-ey e.g. a list of Trustees (who don't get a choice whether they get your emails or not!).

I'd set up the webhooks anyway - the further out-of-sync you get with Mailchimp, the more problems you'll have later on, I'd guess. But yes, technically you can ignore it!
