Will it contain a forum or other way for users to interact with each other?

I like your idea of using other social networking tools and sites to add the interaction.

For example, I will use disqus for commenting. I think your idea of a Facebook page / group is good as well. I'm curious to know how we can build community on Pinterest, as I haven't explored that site at all. And then, I think we will naturally need to use Twitter as well.

So, let's focus on Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter.

Do you think instagram would be better than Pinterest?

Pinterest to get the site in front of our audience. FB page / group and Twitter to give our audience places to interact. Can also add Disqus to the site to allow for commenting.

Kristen suggest to use Twitter to get the word out and to take advantage of hashtags.

I have seen people creating "ready to tweet" excerpts within their content. I don't know how they are doing it, but it could be a good idea to include these "tweetables" in the site.
