You may also heard that FB is now available via a Tor Hidden Service (https://www.facebook.com/notes/protect-the-graph/making-connections-to-facebook-more-secure/1526085754298237). I already use Tinfoil with Orbot Proxy but that caused some issues with "hacked account"-warnings.

Could you please make a option to use this .onion address in tinoil.

thanx

I have added support for it, however there are some weird redirects going on and I can't properly test it. Also, it seems like it's only for the desktop site and not for the mobile/touch site, but either way, it's there. Let me know if they expose a different URL later on for the mobile/touch site.

Thanks for letting me know about this.

@pred2k @velazcod Tinfoil FB needs to support SOCKS5 proxy in order for it to be able to make use of the .onion address.

The other option (not sure about it) might be to configure Orbot as transparent proxy for Tinfoil TB.

pred2k commented 10 years ago

am i blind of does the f-droid compiled v1.7 does not contain this added option?

aelmahmoudy commented 10 years ago

@pred2k I just update from F-Droid, and I do see the onion option at the bottom.

aelmahmoudy commented 10 years ago

@velazcod I just tried loading the onion website (with proxy set to host=localhost & port=8118), but it won't work, I get an emtpy page.

Even if I add Tinfoil FB to Orbot's apps to be transparently proxied, I still get nothing.

agilob commented 9 years ago

I'm still unable to connect via Orbot to https://m.facebookcorewwwi.onion/. I've tried using transparent proxy for everything and only for selected apps. Any chances to make this work?

olbrew commented 9 years ago

Any updates on this? The Facebook engineer who implemented the hidden service said that https://m.facebookcorewwwi.onion/ should work now, even optionally with javascript disabled.

TunedFish commented 8 years ago

It only works with transparent proxy (orbot 15.0.1-RC-3-PIE). The tinfoil "enable proxy" seems to be broken.

diederikdehaas commented 8 years ago

When specifying the proxy, use port 8118 to use Orbot's http proxy. With that, I got it to work.

rqcy commented 8 years ago

With a firewall (AFWall+) blocking all outgoing connections, Tinfoil-Facebook is unable to connect to .onion through Orbot's http proxy. Orbot is the only app not blocked by the firewall. When I allow Tinfoil-Facebook to access the Internet, it seem to work with .onion FB address (through localhost:8118).
