Specific .sit file uncompresses into a single pdf

I emailed this report in, and was asked to post it here.

Here is my initial email:
I have a .sit file, which is 193KB in size.  Passing it to The Unarchiver, and 
it opens the file, leaving me 
with one single release notes pdf.

I know there is more in this archive, and I am going to try my best to hunt 
down the free version of 
Stuffit Expander, so I can get to the files.

The pdf release notes file that is extracted, is only 57KB in size, which is 
smaller than the actual .sit file.

I am running version 2.3 of The Unarchiver.  Thank you for this app, it is a 
great app and saves me a lot 
of time.

This turned out to be a useful test case for an old bug that I hadn't managed
