What happened?

I made Ventoy USB with GPT + UEFI with Secure Boot enabled as well as disabled. No matter what setting I try, or whichever USB stick I use, Ventoy simply boots to my motherboard’s bios screen. That’s it. Secure boot is disabled in Bios btw. Same issue is present on my office PC which is Asus TUF Gaming B660 Wifi motherboard. The same USB works on MSI Z690 boards so anyone help me what setting I am missing so that Ventoy starts becoming bootable on my Asus Z690 and B660 boards? I have updated both the Bioses to latest ones as per Asus website.

  1. When install Ventoy, do NOT enable Secure boot support option
  2. Disable secure boot option in the BIOS If that does not work. then try MBR partition style.

I tried. Nothing works.

The only thing that works is if Windows Bootloader is disabled from bios. Then Ventoy can be set as first boot option and it boots. Strange bios bug with Asus Z690 and B660 boards.

Are you pressing F8 (or F11 or F12 or whatever for your BIOS) to get the BIOS Boot Selection pop-up menu? What choices do you see?

d5aqoep commented 2 years ago

On pressing F8 to boot from USB, I get 2 choices: 1. Windows Boot Loader and 2. Ventoy Upon selecting Ventoy, it opens up UEFI bios settings screen and stops.

Sorry for the late reply.
