What happened?

Hi all ,

Due to my Ventoy USB crashed previously , i have get a fresh install of my Ventoy Stick using 1.0.75 version (Window GUI)

I have encounter an issue of using the same Ventoy (NVME USB Adapter) able to boot some Machines , but also not able to boot some machines (Old model of Laptop)．For those unable boot Machines , it come with the error "This is NOT a standard Ventoy device and is not supported (4098)"　but i am quit sure it is able boot via same Ventoy ( NVME USB Adapter) previously．

And I also try to use another USB Thumbs Drive & SATA External Drive to install Ventoy (1.0.75) have a try on All unable boot machines. NO issue at all. So i wanna ask why and any solution on NVME ? and why is it work previosuly ?

Attached image one is success boot Ventoy (USB Thumb Drive) One is fail to boot Ventoy (NVME USB Adapter） Both are Tested with Ventoy 1.0.75

Hi all , I have finally get a Solution on this , Flash back NVME stick to 1.0.22 , and keep update 1.0.47 > 1.0.58 > 1.0.65 > 1.0.72 > 1.0.75 , now it seem able to boot the old Laptop , But i dun know why . just work

The error means that Ventoy can not read some files in the 32MB VTOYEFI partition which is at the end of the disk. But I don't known why the error disappear when you update from old release.

I have same problem on latest Ventoy. Tested on external drives 1: hdd, 2: ssd

Ventoy 1.0.97, same problem, disk is an NVME in a Strix arion usb rack and formated in GPT. Same notebook as in original post, same problem.

What model of Notebook? What size of USB drive? What method of booting - BIOS/Legacy or UEFI or IA32?

Samsung 970 evo 1TB.

What model of Notebook? What method of booting - BIOS/Legacy or UEFI or IA32?

It is a Dell Precision M2300, i think it only knows legacy, does not have uefi, i also encountered issues with only legacy devices but i did not noted down the model.

Is it USB 2 (not USB 3)? Try installing Ventoy again but reserved 900GB of space so that Ventoy is only in first 100GB - just for a test.

Also it is USB 2.0, it does not have 3.0

Good Morning, i just tried to reserve 850 GB at the end of device and left 80GB for the 1st partition, it works this way

OK, well some Legacy BIOSes have a USB Mass Storage Driver bug. They cannot access USB disk sectors beyond 128GB. Really old BIOSes had an 8GB limit. You seem to have one with a 128GB limit. You could prove this by remaking the Ventoy drive but reserve 750GB. This will put the EFI Ventoy partition past 128GB and so it should not be able to USB boot. https://reboot.pro/index.php?showtopic=11684

Thank you for your help, yes this is the case, i made 3 partitions, 1st for iso files 80gb, 2nd efi boot and 3rd 850 gb for data storage, i marked the 1st and 2nd partition as hidden in diskpart so they will not mount unless i manually do (which will be when i need to add new iso).
