Thank you for the additional feedback. This is exactly what I faced :+1:

same issue

LarsNorgaard commented 9 months ago

Also happens here. I know they added secure boot in version 8.1. Don't know if it could be something to do with that?

aktentasche commented 9 months ago

Same here, tried to enable secure boot but I just get a black screen eight after the boot screen. Went "bare metal" instead and that works with secure boot enabled.

MilesTEG1 commented 9 months ago

Here what I get: image

Exactly the same issue here. Using Rufus with the exact same .iso for 8.1 works fine though

derkrasseleo commented 9 months ago

Can confirm no ISO found with ventoy and proxmox 8.1 edit: Proxmox 8.0.2 worked for me

found a small workaround via the ventoy website about secure boot - the page itself is outdated but you can navigate your way through finding a solution with this method with trial and erorr.

There is a screen that will appear called "enroll MOK" you can, as the gifs on the site kind of exaplain" enroll ventoy in the MOK thing and will allow you to boot into your ventoy stick.

I chose the first option "enroll" however you need to select VENTOY to find the file that you see in the gif on the link above. If its not in that specific location then keep looking around for either location.

From reading other blogs about PCIE passthrough and enrolling other devices in MOK once youve done this once you dont need to do it again.

kiloforce commented 8 months ago

Worked for me. Curious if there is an ETA when this will be released into an official release version?

Luki72 commented 7 months ago

Hi all,

I had the same problem and CI release (12041513) solved the problem. Also the new release (1.0.97 atm) works like a charm. Thx for the bugfix.

SemanticBeeng commented 7 months ago

Can ventoy also boot proxmox from a UEFI zfs raw disk? Is this issue only affecting the initial iso setup or also raw boot of installed proxmox?

Or that is a question for https://github.com/ventoy/vtoyboot project?

My installation on on top of debian so likely would hit this: https://github.com/ventoy/vtoyboot/issues/76

Quadrubo commented 6 months ago

I have just confirmed this is fixed by updating my ventoy to the latest release v1.0.97. As it is release here this issue can be closed.

vazhnov commented 6 months ago

proxmox-ve_8.1-2.iso starts successfully with Ventoy v1.0.97 (while v1.0.95 couldn't). Installation was fine in text mode.

UEFI, test environment: Lenovo ThinkPad X140e.

The issue can be closed.

pjotrek-b commented 5 months ago

I can also confirm it works, and this issue can be closed. (proxmox-ve_8.1-2.iso using ventoy-1.0.97-linux.tar.gz)

jameswilliamknight commented 5 months ago

Same issue but now resolved. Using nomodeset workaround with GT 710 nvidia card and Ryzen 3700X. Multiple failed attempts, finally update ventoy to ventoy-1.0.97-linux.tar.gz Boot into proxmox-ve_8.1-2.iso, select install via terminal UI mode, success! Graphical UI mode still fails. Was having a weird issue with my keyboard registering multiple keypresses in the proxmox grub menu, but only if I used a balenaEtcher/rufus "bare metal" burned USB drive. Resolved by resetting to optimized defaults in aorus bios.

gvillo commented 5 months ago

resolved with 1.0.97

darkknight7777777 commented 5 months ago

Should probably note that you have to delete, then re-add the iso to ventoy, simply updating ventoy doesn't fix the issue. At least it didn't for me

NeilCresswell commented 4 months ago

Am having same issue with Ventoy v1.0.97 when trying to install the Proxmox VE v8.2-1 ISO.

cwiggs commented 3 months ago

I can confirm upgrading to Ventoy 1.0.98 and replacing the Proxmox VE ISO and the issue is gone.

xcutepoison commented 3 months ago

Like @cwiggs mentioned updating Ventoy to 1.0.98 fixed the issue for me too (With Proxmox VE v8.2.1)

53c70r commented 2 months ago

Just upgrade to the latest Ventoy and try again... I guess this can be closed unless someone with the newest version proves wrong.

BluCobalt commented 1 month ago

With Ventoy 1.0.99, I can't install proxmox ve v8.2.1. It fails with the same error on the original report. Could it be because I'm trying to install it on mbr/with a legacy bios?

engels0n commented 1 month ago

Same issue here with newest iventoy docker and pve 8.2.1

MTFPLEX commented 3 weeks ago

Same issue with me

jakobdettner commented 1 week ago

Works now with proxmox ve 8.2.2 and ventoy v1.0.99 Thx for the fix!

gaasehengger commented 1 day ago

Can confirm it works with proxmox ve 8.2.2 and ventoy v1.0.99. Can be closed from my POV.
