What happened?

A bug happened! Yes :-)

For versions 2.7.0, 2.7.1 & 2.7.2 (FreeBSD 14) I always receive the following:

mountroot: wating for device /dev/iso9660/PFSENSE... Mounting from cd9660: /dev/iso9660/PFSENSE failed with error 19.

Did try with BIOS legacy/UEFI, secure boot enabled/disabled (where possible) and everything else I was aware of. Did try TOPTON MiniPC, Shuttle XPC, Supermicro SYS-5019A-FTN4, SYS-5019S-WR, SYS-5018D-MF and an ASUS P9D board. Linux ISOs, Paragon, TrueImage, etc did work fine. Only pfSense is unable to boot. Everything works fine on pfSense 2.6.0 (FreeBSD 13) on all machines.

Sept. 2024... FreeBSD 14 boot should work since 1.0.97 but doesn't. Does anybody have a workaround?

All you gotta do is use an app like Balena Etcher for flashing directly into your USB Drive instead of using Ventoy to boot your ISO image. Works fine for me

Ah. Means, don't use ventoy. 😂
