What happened?
When you cold-boot ventoy and run the debian 12 installer, it works. If you have a restart in between at any point, suddenly "no suitable video mode found, running blind" pops up and also the graphical/themed GRUB screen disappears and falls back to the simplest.
At this point you MUST shut it down completely to do anything again.
nomodeset etc. don't help.
It's not a massive issue if you know to cold-boot ventoy, but I wanted to report this weirdness. It makes you think something else is wrong but it's not.
I'd also appreciate a technical explanation.
There's at least one iso that simply fails in regular mode: gparted live. It does boot using the 'safe graphics mode'. The same parameters do not work in debian 12 however.
This is all very glitchy and inconsistent somehow. There are no good explanations online for this.
Device is a plain intel machine with intel's iris igpu.
