The suggestion is a good one and is topic that we are discussion...
I'm glad the standardization process is under consideration, although OBS has followed the docs and implemented HEVC over RTMP support, I'm not sure what the process to add support for more and more other video or audio codecs? Now it's HEVC/AV1, but can we add support AVS2, AVS3, Vivid audio, is it treated equally ? If you maintainers prefer to HEVC/AV1 and refuse to add it to the document, can we expand the document and define our own extension after all it is not a standard document. so It's hard to imagine what will happen in the future. We will be frustrated with more rtmp streams that are inconsistent with the documentation. so I hope it is a maintainable internet standard.
This is not a priority right now, will reopen if in fact this is a must have.
Thanks for the good job for enhance the RTMP specs, I'm glad to ask for any plan to publish the document as Internet standard? Isn't possible to propose the document to IETF like HLS spec and make it more popular and used by more company in the world?
