Seconding this. It seems like the resume encryption added recently might save me, but I encountered this last time I tried full disk encryption as well (~a year ago).
I'm currently attempting to see how far I get with my GPU unplugged and my CPU clock set to power saving mode. I doubt it's a power issue since I also run plenty of games and haven't had an issue (750W PSU with an i7-7700K and a 1080TI). No idea why VeraCrypt would be pushing things so hard that it would overload my PSU, but I'm not seeing anything in windows' event logs that would indicate something caused it to shut down out of nowhere like that.
Wonder if this is somehow related to #269? Seems like a different issue, but it's also causing power issues, so maybe?
Im also gaming on my PC so it does not seem like it has anything to do with a power issue.
Expected behavior
Veracrypt should encrypt my computer without any problems
Observed behavior
Since i doubled my RAM, got a new CPU and a new Board i reinstalled windows 10 pro. When i try to encrypt the whole drive Veracrypt crashes the computer so it suddenly looses power and i have to reboot before hitting 1% even though the Benchmark and Tests work properly. I reinstalled Windows atleast 10 times to test it and it always happens. Latest Version (patch 8) and also patch 7. I even tried another SSD. I even tried different Usernames in case Admin username makes problems.
Steps to reproduce
Your Environment
Please tell us more about your environment
VeraCrypt version: 1.24-Update7 and Update8
Operating system and version: Windows 10 pro created with media creation tool from another PC with windows 10 pro and the latest updates
System type: 64-bit
*Hardware: GTX980, 16GB Ballistix RAM, Intel Core i7-7700K, Asus Prime Z270-A, i also use an PCI-E Sata extender Card but nothing is connected to it and just to make sure only the one drive with windows is connected.
Before i used the i7-3770, 8GB RAM (cant remember brand) and an really old Medion Desktop PC Mainboard and it worked flawless. On my Notebook it works aswell. I always choose the same steps and same encryption (AES, Sha, ...)
The Bug was reproducable. It happened every time and i tried 6 to 10 times. I didnt count but im tired of reinstalling windows afterwards.
