Image editor REvisited #666

Lets talk about the new image editor features and come up with design solutions
for them.
D5 mockup (D5-1.png)

5. What's the difference between fit image and fill field?
- I just went by the list of functions supplied. I thought the difference is
that "fit image" will actually fit the image in the field depending on the
closest W/H value. Sort of an automatic fit width/height button. Editor picks
which of the two to use in order to fit the whole image without cropping.
"Fill field", on the other hand, will flood the field with the image. Sort of a
PowerClip like result. Cropping is accepted, just as long as the whole variable
image area is covered.

6. what it will look like with some icons disabled?
- Which icons would get disabled and under what circumstances? We have Fit
width, height... if one is in there so are the rest, right?
In any case, we can have them greyed out (D5-3-1.png) or simply removed all
together (D5-3-2.png).

7. what happens when the menu is not needed as for FOR ALL FIELDS functions?
- What about it just disappears all together (D5-2.png)? That way it will be
even more noticeable. When a user clicks on "Fit in field" icon in the left
menu, the entire image gets moved down when the new top horizontal menu is
added. A change (jump) like that will ensure users see that a whole new menu
with options became available at the top.

d5-2
does it mean the img will need to shift up?

Original comment by ad...@zetaprints.com on 5 Oct 2011 at 9:26

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Yes, shift, that's what I meant by "jump". A change like that will make a blind
man see the top menu.

Can we get rid of the jump/shift?

No jump/shift.

While in "Fit in field" mode, the menu is at the top of the FancyBox (D6-1.png)
While out of "Fit in field" mode, the space where the top menu used to be is
just empty (D6-2.png). The image doesn't move up.

Sprites image attached (fit_menu_sprites.png).

I think we can put an infobar at the top where the menu is to say:

"Cropping this image will affect all fields it is used for."

Let's make it a separate issue when this one is implemented.

Anatoly, do we have an info-panel at the bottom for crop?
Keep it if we do, because it's not on the mockup image. Atanas recons we don't
have it.
Whatever.

Atanas, how come we lost the info panel at the bottom for CROP?

Anatoly, can you bring it back?
See comment 10.

As far as I remember, it was not part of "Crop". But anyway, here's a mockup
(D7-3-1.png).
