If any of the categories are checked in the preferences, then it's impossible to see anything categorised under Artist Disography or Doujin Music, as they aren't an option there. I assume this is because both categories require an album to have no category, to actually show up as the category on an album.
I know this can be worked around if all categories besides the desired ones are disabled, however this also has the side effect of hiding any albums with the disabled categories, even if the ones that aren't disabled still present. For example https://vgmdb.net/album/85889 doesn't show up on artist discographies or when searching if Animation is disabled, even if Game isn't (what a majority of the songs on this album belong to).
