When I try to select Emulators or All Apps it Crashes #42

I'm having a lot of trouble with home-brew app store 1.5, because when ever I try to select all apps or emulators it crashes and gives me the error code that says "Unfortunately, Homebrew App Store 1.5 has crashed..."

If every pork chop were perfect, we wouldn't have hot dogs.

(BTW I like your joke) If the problem persists try holding while starting: L button: Clear icon cache R button: Disable icons or report the issue on GitHub. (which is what I'm doing)

Enjoy your day :>"

Please help me or make an update that allows me to use all apps and emulators.

Have you tried clearing the icon cache? I don't have any trouble accessing the "All apps" and "Emulators" sections. Those sections are laggy, but they work. 😄

Im having same problem for about the last week iv cleared cach and icons i dont know what else to do

I can't test right now, but considering there are more apps on the store now than this time last year, this is a possibility.

The only reason that I can think of as to why the program crashes is due to a corrupted PNG file, which is resolved by removing everything in the sd:/wiiu/apps/appstore/cache folder. The icons will be re-downloaded after this.

I will hopefully be taking a look at this in the near future. I want to finally release the update that's sitting on master, and also add in some of the features that the switch version now has (with regards to zip extracting)

As for this specific bug, if clearing the icon cache doesn't work, it might be that a locally installed program (in Emulators) has a corrupted PNG/xml? It makes me wonder if that would also crash HBL though.

@Mdltd it's not great advice, but maybe you could try moving the sd:/wiiu/apps folder and seeing if the crash still happens. If it doesn't, then it's likely one of your installed emulators that's causing it to happen

I have been having the same problem and all of the recommendations haven't helped me. Is there anything i might be missing.

Without a sd:/wiiu/apps folder, and icons disabled (L or R, I forget which) I’m surprised to hear that there are still issues with a specific category causing a crash.

The apps folder only contains a fresh hbas folder?

What firmware Wii u, and what region? And what do you have installed as far as Homebrew?

Deton8t commented 6 years ago

Sorry I took a bit to respond.

I think this a problem with my sd card being as the program worked before I did a Homebrew for Mario Kart Wii. CTGP revolution although the only thing i think that would cause trouble with the app store is the wuphax program on the homebrew channel that allowed me to install CTGP revolution.

Also, what do you mean by the apps folder containing a fresh hbas folder?

Edit: There is a hbas.elf in the appstore file is it possible for that to be corrupted?

vgmoose commented 6 years ago

It shouldn't be possible for a corrupt elf to cause a crash (but since it's booting it's also probably not corrupt).

Do you think you would mind uploading parts of your SD card that you're comfortable sharing for me to try to reproduce the issue? (even if it's just the apps folder)

If you don't want to post it in a public place, you can also email it to me at vgmoose at gmail
