As a ling or vamp, suck one dude, transplant his head onto a monkeyman, suck it again for FREE POINTS HOORAY

Killette2 commented 8 years ago

Now we have to decide which is more viable. Murderboning, or Surgery: the game

icantthinkofanameritenow commented 8 years ago

And here I was thinking that we were done with monkey sucking. Haven't the fucking slightest idea how to fix it now though.

Killette2 commented 8 years ago

If a ling succs you, it should remove your head to prevent this.

Intigracy commented 8 years ago

your fix already made it so you can't succ people who get beheaded

big :-1: to breaking things even further

icantthinkofanameritenow commented 8 years ago

You shouldn't need to behead people if you want to succ them anyway, but that's irrelevant. Point is, genomes should be earned in a way that no exploits can affect them. Perhaps make it so duplicate people with the same ckey produce no genomes?

Killette2 commented 8 years ago

HA! I was absorbed and cloned so even if you kill me you can't absorb me again loser!

This is extra bad when the person you already absorbed is another changeling, albeit your fault for not cleaning up.

jknpj commented 8 years ago

Maybe a variable to make bodies with husked heads unsuccable? It'll force you to at least clone them again.

icantthinkofanameritenow commented 8 years ago

@jknpj Perhaps, but ultimately that's just adding one more step to the loophole. What we want is to make it so head transplants effectively preserve the genome in a way that while multiple changelings might be able to absorb a given person, none of them can get a genome associated with the same ckey twice.

Example:

Greyshirt McShit is killed and sucked dry by a Changeling. Some time later, his head (or brain, since it should have the same general effect) is transplanted and he's cloned. Ideally, Mr. Alpha would be unable to absorb Greyshirt again in spite of his new body since it already has a genome associated with that ckey.

But now that I think of it, if a second changeling absorbed them only to be absorbed by the first changeling, that might act as a way of getting the genomes from both bodies. I'm not sure whether that counts as a good thing or a bad thing.

Maybe @AutismSpider is right- the power progression for changelings and vampires is so heavily flawed that most of the new stuff they gain is based on fixing the outward manifestation of those flaws without dealing with the underlying cause. I'd come up with some way of fixing that system, but honestly I wouldn't know how to do it without resorting to a telecrystal knockoff.

icantthinkofanameritenow commented 8 years ago

So. The main reason for this bug seems to be that ckeys are stored in the head. Transfer the head, you transfer the ckey too. How are you supposed to fix that without either making head transplants impossible or wrecking something even more important? Because I got nothing.

Killette2 commented 8 years ago

@icantthinkofanameritenow we remove lings

icantthinkofanameritenow commented 8 years ago

@Killette2 Other than that, I meant. I may be more concerned with balance than is probably wise, but I'm not going to remove entire game modes because it's the easy way out.
