the trouble with melee is there's a large power gap between the simple stuff used when ranged isn't an option and the hugely powerful stuff like eswords and armblades with nothing to fill it
I'd rather have a less varied selection than broken bottles, glass shards, and screwdrivers

So what you're saying is get more weapon variety, or add more shields to spawn?
I think the problem is the definition of a weapon was stretched a bit, leading to a number of the things you get being random crap like shards and broken bottles. Some more weapons that are properly weapon-y would be a good change
On the one hand, it's an enemy wizard's spell, so it's not entirely unreasonable that it screws you over with the luck of the draw. Although in comparison Summon Guns doesn't prank you so hard it gives you a blunderbuss.
My two cents: We removed high-frequency blade, but kept arm-blade. The former was removed for being overpowered because it was a one hit kill, but arm blade is also a one hit kill through any armor do to incredible bloodloss, in addition to blocking/reflecting shots.
I wouldn't care about this, if high-freq was still in and I didn't get stuck with a bottle or shard of glass. Keep them both or get rid of them both.
Allow it to summon anti-armblade armor
Aren't there all sorts of random weapons just lying around in the arena and centcomm shed that could be thrown into the fray?
We could just say fuck it and make it "Summon Melee"
Let's take a quick look at the code
How come summon magic and summon guns give cool things but half the loot table from swords are total crap? I don't even see claymore in there. We should really reconsider that spell if it's going to have the same price as the other two.
